When Dennis Smith wrote Report From Engine Co. 82.  he was putting a spotlight on the overworked heroes of the 'war years' and described their struggle, their brotherhood and their reticence in a simple, honest style.  What he couldn't have realized at the time was that he would inspire generations of firefighters and future firefighters with those very same descriptions.
 
Thirty plus years later, Report From Engine Co. 82 remains an iconic book in every firefighters library.
