A Photo Exhibit by Lt. Kyra Neeley King
Lieutenant Kyra Neeley King joined the FDNY in 2006 as an EMT after teaching fourth grade in East New York and Bedford-Stuyvesant for five years. Rising to join the ranks of the Department’s elite Rescue Medics in 2011, Kyra was promoted to Lieutenant in 2016. She holds an M.Ed. from Brooklyn College and currently serves as a Fire Commissioner Liaison. A proud member of the Ceremonial Unit and the Incident Management Team, Kyra currently also serves as a Photo Reporter for ProEMS, (the FDNY’s official media group), documenting the Department’s life and history on a daily basis.
In this exhibit, Lt. King has manipulated some of her photographs to digitally remove colors except for those she chooses to highlight, thereby capturing the attention of the viewer to a central aspect of the image.
The New York City Fire Museum is honored to highlight Lt. King’s work in this exhibit. All prints on display are available for purchase, proceeds from which support the Museum’s mission to Preserve, Educate and Celebrate the FDNY’s past, present and future.
